| Vineyard Notes: | Our Gewürztraminer comes from the estate Firestone Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. is historic site features a cool-climate, maritime-influenced climate that accentuates the character of the variety. |
| Production Notes: | The 2010 vintage was unseasonably cool from March to July. Bloom and fruit set took longer than they normally do, but gave us very good yields. We experienced average rainfall, that ended early, and gave the vines the moisture they needed so little irrigation was necessary. e intense heat of summer came late, but when it arrived, the vines responded accordingly. As a result, the wines from this vintage display concentrated fruit characters and extraordinarily balanced palates. The fruit was harvested during the early morning hours and pressed quickly and gently to preserve the floral aromatics and delicate flavors. We do this to minimize skin contact and phenolic extraction, which can have negative effects on the wine. Fermentation and aging was completed in stainless steel tanks at cold temperatures to guarantee vibrancy and freshness. |
| Winemaker Notes: | Gewürztraminer is among the most exciting and aromatic varieties on earth. Our 2010 screams with bright aromatic notes of pink grapefruit, lychee, candied ginger, orange blossoms and rose. The palate is firm, crisp and full of flavors of red grapefruit, lemon and lime zest. This balanced and refreshing wine is the perfect accompaniment to grilled seafood or spicy foods. |
