| Tasting Notes: | Our 2011 Reserve Chardonnay offers aromas and flavors of ripe pear and lemon custard, complemented by notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak. The palate is full, soft and round with a smooth, creamy finish. |
| Vineyard Notes: | Average rainfall coupled with a windy spring set the stage for a long, cool summer. True summer heat didn't arrive until late August, but lasted through early October. Moderate vine vigor led to below average fruit yields allowing for the development of highly concentrated flavors. |
| Production Notes: | Founded in 1972, Firestone was one of the first major estate wineries established in the Santa Ynez Valley. Our 400 acres of historic vineyards lie approximately 30 miles from the cold Pacific Ocean creating a moderate, arid climate and extremely long growing season. In recent years we have developed proprietary viticulture protocols that take full advantage of the complex soils and many exposures on our estate. Our unique growing conditions and intense farming techniques yield wines that are concentrated, elegant and firmly structured. |
